GLENN A. HENKEL RECEIVES NJSBA LEGISLATIVE RECOGNITION AWARD NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - Glenn A. Henkel, a Moorestown resident and shareholder in the Haddonfleld law firm of Kulzer & DiPadova, was honored with the New Jersey State Bar Association's (NJSBA) Legislative Recognition Award in September for his work on probate matters dealing with inheritance tax laws, the Uniform Probate Code and legislation that risked the property rights of children by establishing trusts under the control of their parents in response to September 11th victim's requests. Henkel and others met with representatives of the Division of Taxation to discuss changes to revised estate tax laws and were successful in negotiating important changes to make filing of estate tax returns easier. With the introduction of the Uniform Probate Code this past year, Henkel participated in meetings with the bill's potential sponsors, attended multiple hearings in the Legislature and presented testimony. Regarding the property rights legislation, Henkel participated in conference calls with the NJ Surrogate's Office, Office of the Governor and Administrative Office of the Courts. He and others drafted amendments that constitutional scholars agreed was the least constitutionally intrusive remedy available. He also testified at legislative hearings and met with the Governor's office staff. The annual Legislative Recognition Award is given to acknowledge noteworthy legislative service of NJSBA members. Henkel is chair of the NJSBA Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section and a member of the section's Board of Consultors4 He is currently a trustee of the Camden County Bar Association and serves as co-chair of the Probate and Trust Committee for the county association. He is a past president of the Trust Counselors Network and of the Estate and Financial Planning Council of Southern New Jersey. Henkel is a certified public accountant and a member of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, In 2001-2002, he served as president of the Southwest Jersey Chapter of the NJSCPA. In addition to his New Jersey State Bar Association membership, Henkel is a member of the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. The New Jersey State Bar Association, incorporated in 1899, is dedicated to the continuing education of lawyers and the public, to reforming and improving the legal system and to aiding in the administration of justice.
